I know what's good for me!
The older you get the more you know what's good for you, and I know the schedule I want to work, and cannot work.
Luckly I'm in a trade where there are more jobs than people to fill them, so that does kind of give me some leverage.
But when I tell a company I can, or am only willing to work said days, and they still schedule me for more...then I have an issue.
But now days could be 'app' doing the scheduling, so will give them a pass for now.
I'm not one of these brainwashed types who think I was born only to slave away at some job while watching own life's ambitions fade away.
The older you get the less pay checks matter and the more 'time' matters.
Cause the 'end' is the same no matter what, whether wealthy or income poor, the end is the same...sickness, death and then the grave or ashes.
What years I do have left, I want to 'own' my time, and not lease it to any place or company that isn't a good fit for me.
Cause when take last breath, unless that company can breathe life back into me, than who are they that I should sacrifice personal goals for them?
Lot's more to follow.

Deciding to leave a job can be both stressful and liberating Deciding to leave your job can be both stressful and liberating. I may have to leave mine soon, I hate leaving a good or decent job, but the schedule, it has just been announced, will be one that is not healthy for me...I mean physically healthy. This job gives me plenty of days off though, and not sure if can find another job which gives me so many days off in a row, while still earning an OK income. But do to nature of job, this new announced schedule would be a hazard to my health, joy and happiness. I guess it's all about age and stage of life you're in, but at my age and stage of life, my health has to always come first...and jobs that require me to be awake during the hours of 3 am -7am, are a hazard to my health, at this age and stage of my life. Especially blue collar type jobs. Companies can 'demand' but I don't have to obey, and can opt to just leave instead, as I may. Managers who write up these schedules don't have to work them, and abusing my body, just so the rich can get richers, is not sensible for me at this age and stage of life. My health, which depends on my immune system being optimum, is all I have in this world...and with Corona virus floating around, I can't do or work a job which jepordizes my health. And proper sleep is important part of that forumla of health. And I sleep best from 3-8 am..that's when body is recovering, healing, that's when heart is reviving itself... Don't you see we only get one heart, and must prioritize care of the one and only heart that keeps us alive and healthy. And forcing self to stay away when body trying to shut us down (sleep), so can recover and heal on molecular level is bad, not good for over all health. And no job is worth my health. I've saved my money, so I do have a little lee way here, I don't have to rush into next job. This company announced change of schedule yesterday and said they understand if some can't do it, cause it's not what we signed up for. I have good relationship with this company, but it's not them calling the shots, it's the much larger company they're contracted to that is the real boss. More on this as time unfolds.

You rate a job by how you feel when 'off' work that first night or day
Again, it's all about age and stage of life you're in, if 30 and below, what I'm typing in here might not make sense.
But if 30 and above, maybe it will...but you rate a job by the energy you have when off the job, what energy does job leave you with when off?...a lot, some or none?
What mood does job leave you in when off, good, bad, happy or sad?
As you age it becomes more about quality of life, which includes more than just a pay check.
I'm no ones slave, I live cheaply, so don't need much, which makes me more free than others.
I realize I'm nothing to nobody, so don't need fancy car to prove that I am, or I'd become a slave to the system.
My time and health, and the type of environment I work in, means more and more to me now as I age. There are jobs now, physical orientated jobs, that I'm sure I could go out and get, do to skill set, that would earn me 60,000 + a year, but at what expense to my over all health and happiness?
I'm not in love, no one loves me, so why would I go out there and destroy my health just for a paycheck?
Or could get a roommate and cut what little bills I have in half and work just part time.
The older you get you learn to work smarter, not harder.
Or maybe could start doing stock market stuff, day investor type stuff...instead of this 9-5 bs stuff that gets you nowhere...again, just depends on age and stage you are in life.
But the older you get, the less you have to prove and the more you just want to be left alone to do things, focus on things, your blue collar schedule did not allow you to do or focus on while in your prime.

When day of liberation finally arrives (Day or days off from work), that first day so 'shot', and burned out, you kind of still feel shackled.

If I had to work tomorrow, I'd be a mess
If had to work tomorrow, I'd be a mess, so glad I have tomorrow off, long work hours just aren't enjoyable to me anymore at all, and lucky only have to do it either 2 or 3 days in a row, with either 3 days off, or 4 days off.
If not I would of quit long ago, working just to work, is not so good for you as you age.
And everyone has a different definition of work...there's blue collar labor intensive work, then there's administrative work, and or a mix of the to, and then there's like Collegiate profession type work, as in being a teacher or a nurse or Doctor or chemist.
And then there's like combo of the above as in Fireman, Cop, 1 responder ect.
And to me those who say you shouldn't go to college, mainly conservatives cause they don't like that Universities all have a 'Liberal slant now'...
But those who say you shouldn't go to college or don't need it are selfish as hell to me, funny how they went, got theirs, and now successful within the media, but yet others shouldn't do the same?
Here's the thing, sure you don't need college, but as you age, if you ever want to move from 'the field' to a office or supervisory type of job, than believe me you you will need college.
Even to be a probation officer, parole officer, you need a 4 year degree, and many other jobs where you have supervisory status, still require you have a 4 year degree, and doubt that will ever change.
So my advice is to go to college, in that better to have a degree, in anything, get it out the way while younger, better to have it and not need it for a while, than to years later wish you had it, but years later to wore out or broke to get it.
All that aside, I'm sure glad I don't have to work tomorrow.

Finally off for a few days Finally off for a few days, when I compare how I feel before work cycle and how I feel after, it's like night and day. I see no benefit in being apart of the labor workforce anymore other than to receive a pay check in order to pay basic bills. You're body and mind just don't lie, and if always feel worse after a string of days working, than it's probably cause, well, 'you do' feel worse. It's also about phases in life you're in, your age, and or career vs a job and other factors. I hardly doubt one who fly's a military jet fighter feels worse after their shift... I mean if one gets to do this for a living, while in their prime, I"m pretty sure they feel lucky and blessed all at the same time, then get of shift and go hang out with buddies, go out, meet women/men or if 'same sex type', than meet whomever. But just saying I guess it's all about career paths vs mundane job. And or even transitioning cause you can love your job for a while, then tire of it after a few years....the problem is school or training, seems the older you get the less realistic it is to go back to school, mainly do to fixed bills, and the older you get the less you qualifty for grants, loans ect. Oh well, I'm off now, time to recoupe.

When off work, I stop caring about the troubles of the world
When off work, I stop caring about the troubles of the world, when off work, it's just me and the sound of the fan blowing, soft ambient sound that further blocks out the world and smothers me in a self absorbed reality.
Living alone is like living in a giant doll house, that statement in and of itself should be the title of a blog or essay or post.

The problem with working only 3 days a week, it makes you not want to do anything else cause you've already met 'nirvana'...I mean why would I want any other job/career, at this stage of me life that would require a lot more time from me, energy, and equal or less pay?
Unless just wanting to switch jobs to possible meet more interesting people.
Gotta go, distracted by Amazon Movie about serial killers..

Today, so far, has really been one of those 'pre work' days that really reminds me why I'm trying to get a different career where don't have to leave my place and be gone so long while on duty.
Being gone for long swaths of time, especially if live alone, is just such a hassle, things always go wrong right before you leave, right before yanked off and away into the abyss or work and employment.
I love how wealthy people, who lets face do not work, love telling 'labor' how wonderful and great work is..yet not a one of them could survive most blue collar peoples day at work without crying out mercy.
Or even try being a cashier, try standing for hours on end with no break.

I realize I really have no hope or motivation anymore to work 'harder' than have been my entire life
I'm older now, been working 'hard' (what a bogus term) my whole life, and just don't see the benefits of it anymore as prices and rent and this and that keep going up, but pay doesn't.
And with Biden and Democrats in charge with all these trillions and trillions of dollar spending packages, inflation will raise the price of things even more!!
Seems Democrats always destroy perfectly functioning economies by meddling and spending way more than they should and problems money meant to solve never get solved, all that happens is the 'rich get richer' under Democrats, as they print money up for themselves and friends and foundations and other ways they funnel wealth from our pockets to theirs.
I'm mentally tired, weary, and just don't know what else to do to generate more income, at least nothing I'm enthused about.
It's not like I'm 23 and just starting out and under the 'stupid spell' of believing that hard work pays off, that's not me right now.
Right now I just see money swindlers grabbing all the wealth and leaving everyone else behind.

I was wrong, I thought the more days I had off, the more eager I would be to return to work, not so, the more days I have off, the less I ever want to return to job
Yes, the more days I have off, the more of an interference job seems to 'me', like an intrusion.
I'm not talking a career, I'm talking a job, where you really don't impact any ones life at all other than by doing your duty.
It's not like I work with students or council people or in medical field with patients that I miss when away, no, it's just a manual labor type of job, and I feel most dead when at work.

The manager of place I stay at just told me they have two jobs
And found out the reason why is probably do to 'child payments', they didn't out and right say that but hinted at it, wow.
It's one thing to have child payments and be a millionaire where not laboring for your income, but it's another thing to have child payments and have to labor for that income, as in hourly wage type of work, that would suck.
And it's not always the guys fault, I mean a guy can't control whether or not the woman he has child with, even if married, will still want to be his wife for 18 years, what a sham and a scam.
No couples these days, married or not, stay together for that long anymore.
So if a working class male, and get a woman pregnant, you'd just better plan on making child payments, and working two jobs, or have one job that pays very well.

Was just writing elsewhere how when I end my shift at work, or work week, how utterly spent I feel, mind body and soul, as if all three stolen from me.
This idea that mindless hard work makes you a better person, says who?

If I never had to work again in my whole life, doing some mindless activity for a pay check, I'd be happy and never look back
