Young male in photo kinda reminds me of Kurt Cobain or Nirvana.

We've all gone through that stage, but out towards the beaches, the young, fun and dumb are perceived as being more 'safe' than say their urban core counter parts.
Young, fun and dumb surfer types don't go around shooting people, aren't into drug trade.
When perception is on your side, life tends to be easier.
