School sucked when way young, and school or studying can suck when older as well.
It's so easy to dream, fantasize about being successful, but it's a whole other ball game when you actually have to study and learn material to get there, cause unlike dreaming, 'to get there' actually takes real time effort.
Much more to follow.

When it comes to studying
When it comes to studying, not sure why 'cramming' for a test or quiz, seems more gratifying than studying in equal intervals through out the day, week, month, quarter, semester or if getting certification or license ect.
Studying course material when you actually don't have to just doesn't seem so fun, never has, not now, not then.
But studying when you absolutely have to, cramming, night before exam or test, just seems 'fun', stressful yet fun, for some odd reason, for some anyways.
There's basically two types of students, the cram for the test type, and the study on Friday night type while everyone else is out having 'fun'.
It's like now days you just want to know it, without having to study it, like that one scene in the Matrix where instructions and knowledge were just pumped into 'Andersons' brain.
Instant knowledge without having to dedicate hours, days, months, learning it.
Anyways I do know if want to be successful student, must develop better study habits.
much more to follow.

The hardest part about trying to study as older student is concentrating.
When you're older, there seems to be a lot more life distractions.
Although I doubt that's true, cause everyone has distractions, college students have distractions so do those in high school, social, home life ect.
The difference is when younger, and still dependent on others, or another, those distractions don't threaten to rob you of your lively hood or ability to pay bills.
It's hard to study when worried about paying bills, or finding new job that will allow you enough time and energy to learn while in school.
Or if one has spouse and kids, concentrating can be even more of a challenge.
Anyways, instead of wasting time writing this I need to be reading.

Taking online classes from 'Harvard', basically a free course
I've decided to take a online class from Harvard, signed up for it when drunk, stupid me, and have fallen way behind do to my schedule, but still glad I took the class.
It's about religion and conflict, and just studying and learning about 'others', can help give perspective to 'self' and or own nation.
And one thing I 'm realizing is that conflict is just in the heart of man, no matter where man is, what nation, area, don't matter, conflict is everywhere it seems.
Even if a person of color, when born and raised in America, one tends to have a 'superiority' attitude towards other nations.
As Americans, regardless of color, we tend to look at other nations in a type of cartoonish way, or simply see them as vacation spots for us when we want to get away, but by taking this class, I'm learning what goes on behind those vacation walls, and a lot of it isn't pretty, as far as regional conflicts and all.
I can't solve any of it, heck I can barely manage my own life.
I took the class, I don't know, just to help make self still feel alive I guess, and engaged in matters outside of my usual dull mundane day to day routine.

I'm actually taking these very 'low key' online courses at Harvard, meaning the certificate you receive is all but about useless, and more for 'self gloating' I guess, none the less it's Harvard.
But also seeing how much of Harvard has been taken over by 'Asians', not saying that's good or bad, just stating it as a observed fact.
China has big plans, and they're succeeding by buying off their 'resistance' in the West, which is older Capitalistic men who place material over culture.
China is always buying off our politicians and Judges, amazing what's going on...again not saying that's good or bad, but if losing expressive freedom is part of that 'purchase', then it becomes bad to me.

It's easy to enroll in a online course, class, school, up and until they ask 'Payment method'...D'oh!
I finally, after a week of talking self into this, more like 3 weeks, I finally enrolled in this online course, but unlike others I've taken, this one actually costs money, over 2 gran, but you get a real life usable certification which = employment down the road.
It has to do with helping others and counceling others in a limited capacity (although to the person you're helping, your capacity to help them has no bounds)
That aside, it's all easy done and said until get to the 'payment section', cause that's where you really know if serious about it or not.
I think we're all serious about getting ahead in life, or even making our own lives easier down the road by giving ourselves more income options, but when it comes to paying for that better future, is where many hesitate if not already wealthy.
You have to realize, to the working class poor, it can take a year or more, years, to save up, lets say 5 gran.
Sure you may earn $40,000 gran during the year, but you're spending most of that income as you 'live' month to month, as in rent, auto insurance, food, clothing, medical, mechanical repairs, ac/heat or havoc, phone bill, internet bill and more...so if working poor, you're basically spending your money as you earn it....so to plop down $2,500.00 for a course that may or may not earn you revenue 6 months to a year down the road, can be a source of stress.
But once you 'plop' it down then you're committed, you have to be or else it's a big waste.
Here's the deal, as long as I'm alive, as long as 'we're alive', we all have to deal with the future, no matter what!
This idea that the future will take care of us by itself, is a fools dream, and the older I get the more I realize that.
Thus the more options we give ourselves while we can, the better, especially if in the labor class, cause labor work, be it cashier, truck driving, construction, any of the trades, plumber, ect, lawn maintance, factory work, ect, those jobs mean your body has to work, and you have to be in decent health, but what if that health goes by the way side one day, then what?, and not old enough to retire, then what?
You'll still need a income, that's what.
And there are many online courses, certifications, one can get that would allow them to earn a income at home, over the phone, through 'Zoom' and ect, even if have to string a few jobs together to make it, but again, if you don't prepare now for the future, no one else will.
Most of us just aren't into 'the markets' and don't have millions saved up in bonds and stock market, and so will still have to generate some kind of income, and well if 55 or 62, would rather generate that income from behind a desk at home or in a office, than out in a field picking watermellons for a labor farm.
Anyways, the above post was a pep talk for myself and or for others who may need it who are going through same situation.
And another thing, you can hit the left side of computer or phone tab and have all these posts read aloud by computer, like a audio book or something.
Back soon with more updates

The hardest part about being a older student is reminding yourself that you do not already know everything
That's been my biggest obsticle as a older student, is trying to actually humble self to learn from someone who may be younger than me.

hardest part about taking classes as a older working class enrollee is that no one around you cares
I mean often when you take these classes, you need 'subjects' to practice on, ect, but the people around you could care the less, and are totally uninterested, at least in my circle of nothingness.
I mean if it's not about sex or drugs or money, older people just really could give a crap about learning more about themselves, at least blue collar types.

It's obvious to me that I'm going to have to start listening to these online courses while at work, I drive, so it can work, cause trying to study while at home is just way to boring, I just can't do it, the sessions move slow, at least to me they do, and when I'm home, the idea of wasting time studying just is yuk, but if have 6 hours to pass while at work and driving, then ye, cause then I'm bored and need something to fill the mind with, sure I can't take notes while driving but so what, the assignments will be marked as complete.
The dangers of being a older student is much of what you learn on line (outside of math and hard sciences) is stuff you already have learned and do, as far as relating with others and all, you may not have all the fancy names for certain behaviors and mannerisms, but most just learn how to 'relate' to others as a part of navigating normal life.
And, at least with me, since a older student, I don't feel what I'm learning will have as much of an impact on the my future as it would have years ago, but that's a 'mental thing', a lot of variables there including those you're around.
I'm taking my classes in total isolation, so there is no support base, nothing, nada, zero, although sure I could seek out such places online.

The only way I'm going to finish this class on time is to like stream it on phone, while at work, cause when off work, the last thing I feel like doing is homework.
Just tested phone and indeed able to log in from phone, this way while spending tons of hours wasted at work, doing mindless activity, can be taking mental notes, be it as a driver or other.

It's just 'time' is so rare and precious, work, job sucks, so what I do is do everything else that sucks while on the clock. I workout, which sucks, why do at home? And now will study, when at work, and doing mindless activity anyways, why do at home?
Home or off time is for relaxation, not studying or working out.

I'm like a film academy now, where you meet with a mentor 8 hours a week, and are assigned homework, lot's and lots of homework, movies to watch, stuff to learn. Did I make the right choice? I was trying to keep my life simple, now I've just complicated it by 10 fold by putting all this pressure on myself to pass this school, and paid a lot for it...good grief...at my age? What the heck was I thinking...

Now I kind of wish I had just sunken out of sight, bought some land, a RV and just vanished. That would have been the safest route for me.

The hardest thing about going to school later in life is it can be hard to study at times, cause you already feel you know everything, or at least everything that matters. Younger students still enjoy the feeling, attitude, of optimism, but when older, it's like you've already seen the end of the roadway, as such, your motivation has derive from other areas within you. That being said, its time for me to get up, and start reading, writing, listening to lesson plan videos, and other stuff. I just wish I could win the lottery, who doesn't....so many issues would just be wiped away.
