The Breakfast ClubWhat a movie, this movie definitely stands the test of time. It was on HBO, and even I forgot how powerful of a movie it is, was, in capturing the 'mood' of the day. Anyone who group up in the 80's can see themselves being played out in one or several of the characters in this movie. Even the actor who played 'Rusty' in 'National Lampoons Vacation' is in this, and tested out his 'soul brother' routine in a scene that would later one become full blown in the movie 'Weird Science', where he's in bar with 'The brathas' and has one of the best comedy movie scenes ever. But all that aside, many of the performers in this movie went on to do other great things in cinema, and time allowing, maybe later we'll explore some of the career paths before and after 'The Breakfast Club'. The 80's was a very odd era. Not quit celebrated like 'The 70's', it was just an odd awkward era where many were trying to find themselves. For those apart of newer generation, you can observe your parents in this movie, as they were back in the 1980's. It's definitely a classic now, well made, and stands the test of time.

Desperado (1995)
Are movies like this still even possible anymore?
I mean has the tech age destroyed the whole cinematic moving making industry as it has many other industries by totally saturating the market with backyard, back barn produced films that now anyone with a cell phone camera can edit and produce?
From what I see it has, I mean I can't tell you the last time I've looked forward to any grand movie release with recognizable names and talent...it's been at least 10 years or so.
I just don't watch new movies anymore, don't even know where they're premiered anymore either, it use to be you'd just watch TV and new movie premieres would appear right along with the commercials, but not anymore.
Not sure where new movies premiere anymore, and that's what I'm saying, the movie industry isn't like it use to be, where are the big stars of today?
In the past you just new who the big stars were, today you have to be apart of some special niche of fans to know, and that's not good in that a star can't make as much money if only a small select group of fans even know they exist.
In the past, everyone knew who Tom Cruise was or Burt Renolds, or Tom Hanks or Bruce Willis and so forth, now, who's the latest and greatest male actor?
Or female actress?...I couldn't tell you.
The movie 'Desperado' is art, art, I mean does the film industry even have time for movies like this anymore?
Doesn't seem like it, and as such you have no more rising starts, again only and if one follows a small niche, does one know who the big stars are of today.
Or maybe it's just me, since older now, I just don't bother watching ABC,NBC or those stale night shows anymore, those have played out to me as well.
In the olden days, entertainment came to you, you didn't have to hunt it down on some app or special website, it was just in your face so you knew what was trending.
Anyways, I just happened to have old DVD of 'Desperado', and was amazed at how well this movie has stood up to the test of time, I miss when movies were produced like 'art', rather than like assembly line of cheap hamburgers, as they're produced today.

Rumble Fish - 1983
One of the best movies ever made, ever choreographed, starring a young Matt Dillan. What a cult classic this movie has become. Made in 1983, yet even movies today can't match the scenic views and ambiance of this film.
It's produced more like a dream.

The Funhouse 1981
Although older, this movie here's not all that bad. It borderlines between a 'B' movie and a 'OK' type of Friday the 13th genre movie.
I was watching it on Amazon, and well, watched more of it than I thought, cause it just pulled me in. If you like or miss that old time 1980's scare, this movie might be worth checking out.
