Killing the Mob - Bill O'Reilly
I'm about half way through this book, I usually read about two pages at a time, it's a 'bathroom' type of book, not much of a static reader, but way, the things that I've pretty much know already that this book confirms is amazing, about the influence of the Mafia back in the day, and even today.
Seems America's great past was full of racists, the Klan, and the Mafia, it's like they were the triangle of control.
If the Klan didn't own or run police stations than seemed the Mafia did, no wonder so many 'bosses' and their underlings got off scot free.
It's why I don't trust crime stats, cause not all crime is reported, not all criminal acts detected, not all criminals convicted.
I mean seems to me, if white, and connected, both then and now (maybe not so much now), but for sure back then, than seems there was nothing you couldn't get away with.
Not sure how this book is suppose to make me feel, happy, sad?, mad?, just not sure what conclusion I'm suppose to draw from this book and the level of corruption that occurred all over the place back then, all the while TV was painting this clean Rosy picture of America by producing shows like 'Leave it to Beaver' and all, wow.
The Klan and the mob were like at their heights during Leave it to Beaver's TV show.
But if raised in a small dust bowl town like I was, and insulated from a lot, you'd of never known.

Also learned that the Mafia in the 5's and 60's, helped flood the American urban streets with heroin, which of course led to all sorts of issues within itself and helped destroy 10's of 1000's of lives.
Yet, cause the Mafia controlled the cops, media this and that, 'white America' just thought blacks were the scourge for using Heroin, but no one ever questioned how it got made over seas and made it into the American streets.

Heck, I'm on like page 180 now of this book, and learning that 'back then', the Mob even pretty much owned and ran Hollywood.
It's all about financing I guess, those who finance get to control and call the shots, and in the early days of Hollywood, normal banks would not finance the 'Jewish ran' place, so the 'Jews' turned to, who else, other than Mobsters, and thus is how the mobs tentacles begin to sink deeper into Hollywood, at least up until around the 70's, I haven't got far enough into the book to know.
But regardless, by that time so many millionaires and billionaires had been made, that the Mob could simply have 'legit' agencies by then or now, so sure, may not still have to use 'street tactics' to get their way, but when have all the money, and ability to finance projects, that means you have all the control.
I'm realizing now that the Italian mob literally had it's hands in everything from like the 1920's up and until maybe around the late 90's.
